Often taken for granted, brake systems play a significant role in your car’s overall performance. After all, safety must always come first!
Keep an eye out for the following signs that might indicate that you need to get your brake pads replaced – sooner rather than later:
Audible Clicking Noise
Car manufacturers usually install an anti-rattling device to regulate the speed of the brakes upon depression. If your brakes start creating a clicking noise, this can be an indication that you need to replace the pads.
Extremely Thin Brake Pads
You might want to check your brakes by inspecting the wheels on your vehicle. If there is less than ¼ inch of the pad visible, this means it is already too thin and it should be replaced immediately.
Visibly Deep Grooves
Also known as ‘scores’. If you notice there are deep, circular grooves on the rotors, this most likely means that you need to replace your brake pads. Extremely deep grooves may have also damaged your rotor – so that might have to be turned or replaced as well.
Vibrating Brake Pedal
If you feel a constant vibration when you push the brake pedal down, then your pads might be damaged due to heat – causing them to vibrate. Time to get your brake pads changed!
